The Supreme Court of India addressed the dispute between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Rahul Mehra regarding the governance and election processes of AIFF. The core issue was the compliance of AIFF’s Constitution with the National Sports Code 2011 and the need for reforms in its administration. The Court appointed a Committee of Administrators to draft a new Constitution, which was later reviewed and modified by Justice L. Nageswara Rao. The Court approved the revised Constitution with specific modifications, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and representation of eminent players. The current AIFF administration was deemed a permanent body, and the AIFF was directed to adopt the new Constitution within four weeks.
